Welcome to The Heart of the Dog

Hello Bloggers, this is the 1st day of this site and I hope to keep you entertained, laughing, enlightened and just enjoying the site.

I have to thank my good friend Lea from NJ for showing me her site and getting me interested.  We spoke at length about my starting a BLOG.  Probably the very first thing I had a problem with was finding a name for it.  Lea said just go with your "passion".  Well I like to think that I have a few of those.  I knew in my heart what my main passion was and that is my love of animals, especially dogs, but I also have two other passions and that is gardening and cooking, so I hope to share some of my favorite photos of my garden as well as favorite receipes with all of you.  I will also share some day to day activities which I hope you will enjoy as well.

My husband Chuck and I were visiting our good friends Bob & Lea in New Jersey.  It is always a relaxing time for the both of us and this weekend we were lucky to be down here for their "Home Town Celebration".

We arrived mid afternoon and did some catching up then we were off to Henri's Hotts - a great BBQ place.  Not much to look at from the outside, but oh my gosh, if  you like BBQ then this is the place for you - fall off the bone ribs, with sides to beat the band and more than plenty to take home in a "doggy" bag.  From there we headed off to Hammonton, NJ to walk around their farmers market - it was wonderful.  Stopping at each vendor we sampled the smells of local baked goods, gazed on the vegetables of the local farmers and drooled over the fresh blueberries for sale.  But probably the best part of this farmers market today, was the fact that it was "Doggie Day" and dogs with their owners in tow enjoyed showing off and struting their stuff.  A special part of this event was that they had two adoption groups with "puppies" available for adoption. They were adorable and very much in need of a home.

Today,  we went to the "Home Town Celebration" and below you will find some pictures, which I hope you will enjoy especially the "doggie parade".  Well, I won't bore you the first entry of my blog, so I will close for today and will post in a day or two, when I get back home to the Nutmeg State - you of course know what state that is - right?  Until the next time, welcome to The Heart of the Dog and my rescued thoughts!!!!    Today's post is dedicated to my beloved Zak, who passed after 15 years on June 4th.
